4-week Beginner Wheel-Throwing Course
This course focuses on fundamental skills and knowledge for throwing on a potter’s wheel. It is designed for beginners who wish to learn continuously and aims to equip you with the ability to practice independently.
Schedule:
The course takes place every Saturday of the month, from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM.
- Day 1: A brief lecture on pottery, demonstration of wedging clay, centering clay on the potter’s wheel, making a short cylinder, and removing it from the wheel.
- Day 2: Refining a cylinder and forming basic shapes.
- Day 3: Introduction to trimming techniques, making, and attaching handles.
- Day 4: Glazing and loading the kiln, with demonstrations and explanations.
Additional Information:
Please note that the firing fee (£0.55 per 100g) is not included in the course price.
Clay and glaze are included in the firing fee.
You can choose which pieces you wish to glaze and fire to take home, but keep in mind that unfired pots can be recycled. However, once fired, the piece becomes non-degradable. Please make your decisions thoughtfully.
